How to Connect to the COSC WiFi
Important: In order to connect to the
Mathematics and Computer Science Department's wireless network, you
must have an account on our system. If you are a student in the
department and do not have an account please see Jim Stewart in
Darden 210A

Click the “Wireless Network Connection “
 Icon in the system
tray.

Ensure that one of the cosc-wireless networks is available,
making a note of the name of the network, in this example
“cosc-wireless-2”. Then click “Change
advanced settings” in the “Related Tasks”
pane.

On the “Wireless Network Connection Properties”
window, click the “Wireless Networks” tab at the
top. Ensure that “Use Windows to configure my wireless
network settings” is checked. Then click the
“Add” button.

Enter the name of the cosc-wireless network shown in the list
of available networks from step 1 in the “Network name
(SSID)” field., set Network Authentication to
“WPA” and Data encryption to
“AES”

Click the “Authentication” tab, change EAP type
to “Protected EAP (PEAP)” , Uncheck
“Authenticate as computer when computer information is
available” and click the “Properties”
button.

Uncheck “Validate server certificate”, Ensure
Authentication Method is “Secured password
(EAP-MSCHAP-v2)” and click the “Configure”
button.

Uncheck “Automatically use my Windows logon name and
password (and domain if any).” Click
“OK”

Click “OK” on the “Protected EAP
Properties” dialog
|
| 9. |
Click the “Connection” tab,
If you would like to automatically connect to this network
when you are in range, ensure “Connect when this
network is in range.” is checked. Otherwise, uncheck it
and click “OK”

Click “OK” on the “Wireless Network
Connection Properties” dialog.

Click the “Wireless Network Connection”
icon
in the system tray again.

| 12. |
Double click the name of the wireless network in the list of
available networks.
|
| 13. |
Click the “Wireless Network Connection” balloon
when it pops up, Enter your COSC domain username and password
in the login box and click “OK” Do
Not enter anything for “Domain”
|
| 14. |
If everything worked, the status of the network will
change to “Connected”
Close the “Wireless Network Connection”
window, you are now connected to the COSC wireless
network.
